My proposal is to create a scenic art resource to use as a teaching tool outside of the workshops and an online community for discussion and sharing of learning.
What are the benefits of such a resource?
The use of the scenic art resource allows the tutor/lecturer more time with the students.
As suggested in my last post, the refreshing of materials, techniques and tools takes uses time and brings anxiety and stress to a student thinking that they aren’t “getting it”. If they are refreshing at home through video or an article they come prepared to the next day, they may have questions of their own and it becomes more of a dialogue between student and teacher. I’m not trying to reduce the contact time but improve the quality of the time we have together. To get away from the tutor telling the students what to do and on to a more collaborative process. This time can be spent on the experimentation and development of the students craft.
